Therapy With Jo

Jo Christa Taylor - Psychotherapist and Counsellor

If you always do what you’ve always done, you will always get what you’ve always got. Henry Ford

The psychodynamic approach to therapy has its roots in the work of Freud although it has evolved a lot since his time. What remains the same is the way we work with the unconscious and pay particular attention to childhood and early relationships when seeking to understand how we might be struggling in our present day lives.

Ideally sessions will take place weekly, at least in the early stages and can be taken face to face or online using Zoom. Sessions last for 60-minutes and will take place at the same time every week. I am currently available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays Fridays in my lovely therapy room on Vernon Street in Derby for face to face sessions or online sessions. Online sessions are also offered on Thursday mornings.

If you would like to have a look at some of the reviews I have received you can use this link to see them on my Facebook page.

It is hard to say how long you will need to stay in therapy. This varies from person to person but it is safe to say that this approach cannot be viewed as short-term or a ‘quick fix’.

This style of therapy will not suit all clients. If you are in crisis for example and needing to bring about more immediate behavioral change then CBT may be more appropriate. Others find that a person-centered approach suits them better.

If the time is right for you to start doing the work and make some meaningful change then Psychodynamic Counselling may be the way forward. I offer free 15-minute consultations on Zoom so you can meet me and find out more though before committing to the process.

My hourly rate is £60 but you can buy a block of four sessions in advance for £220 or six sessions for £300 which brings the hourly rate down to £55 and £50 respectively.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and you can find me listed on their website as a registered practitioner by using this link.

I look forward to working with you.

Jo

I was so utterly blessed to have Jo work with me, for an extended time, to help me through the maze of despair, guilt, confusion and anxiety I had surrounding me, in relation to the difficulties my son experiences with his mental health. She provided a safe space to explore a number of themes, and her mastery of her approaches and her gentle manner put me at ease. For the first time ever I was able to open up and explore issues that had been locked away for many years. She taught me how to find quiet and calm in my chaotic life. I shall be forever thankful that Jo was there to help me find my way through the maze. Kate
